Time to Think About Christmas!

The thermometer on our patio reads 101 degrees as I write this message but my thoughts are on Christmas and the many people who will be hearing the Gospel message at special programs this December. Our church started planning meetings and rehearsals for the annual Christmas Dinner Theater back in July. Each year the congregation invites their friends and family to the church for a meal, music presented by the choir, and a drama. At the end of the evening the Gospel message is presented and an invitation to receive Christ is given. Each year we see people who would not come to a regular church service, come to the Dinner Theater and respond to the Gospel.

Plans are also well underway for the annual Christmas outreach program through Flagstaff Mission to the Navajo. Items for gift bags are collected throughout the year and then sorted, organized and distributed to the Navajo churches to be used at their Christmas programs. Recently a group of volunteers came from Washington state to help with this project. They assembled 600 gift bags but more bags are needed. Perhaps you'd like to donate items for the gift bags. Here are some of the items that are needed:

socks (all sizes), towels & washcloths, combs, knit hats, work gloves, pens & pencils, head scarves, pot holders & dish towels, bib aprons, quilts or blankets, slippers, coloring books & crayons, chap sticks, men's & boy's T-shirts, and baby blankets.

If you would be interested in donating any items for Flagstaff Mission to the Navajo's annual Christmas program, gifts can be shipped directly to the mission storehouse at the following address:

Flagstaff Mission to the Navajo,
Attn: Mrs. Beth Taggart, Storehouse Coordinator
614 West Birch

It may be difficult to think about Christmas while the weather is still warm. But whatever your temperatures are, would you begin now to pray for the Christmas outreach programs.
